Summary:

Our client has over 80 years of experience manufacturing, engineering and distributing industrial, compressed air-cooled chillers, water cooled chillers, fluid pumping stations, heat exchangers, air compressors for fire protection, desiccant air dryers, refrigerated air dryers, filters, drains, safety valves, oil water separators and host of ancillary equipment. The client specializes in custom and special product applications.

About the position:

The outside Sales Representative is responsible for establishing and maintaining strong relationships with customers. They must build relationships and act as support for distributors and contractors by providing technical assistance and expertise when called upon. The outside sales person must also be familiar with the inside sales process’s so that they can assist when available. The outside sales representative should be technically sound on all product lines with the ability to explain their function in many applications.  

Duties and Responsibilities and Results

Distributor’s support

  • Providing distributors with pricing
  • Product information, and sales metrics
  • Travel as needed for sales calls and product demos
  • Use contractor relations to find new business
  • Build and maintain relationships with new and repeat customers

Contractor support

  • Providing training and tech support
  • Travel as needed for sales calls and product demos
  • Use contractor relations to find new business
  • Build and maintain relationships with new and repeat customers

Engineer support

  • Providing training including specification information on equipment to be included in engineering specs
  • Travel as needed for product demos and to discuss new business
  • Build and maintain relationships with new and repeat customers

When not traveling, assist inside sales

  • Handle incoming calls, provide pricing, tech support, and providing customers with any assistance they require.

Review and interpret sales reports to learn where sales can improve

  • Learn where sales can improve, relay sales data to hit agreed upon rebate and sales goals

Maintaining an accurate record of all leads, customer accounts and sales

  • Having an up-to-date CRM, that provide anyone at the company with accurate information and the ability to make contact with your customers.

Industry involvement

  • Keeping up with the latest industry developments by attending meetings, training, and industry events

Drive continuous improvement throughout the company

  • Suggest and help implement improvements to current Customer Service, Production, Inventory, and Shipping Best Practices and SOP’s

  • Positive communication in and across departments to drive teamwork and success for the business

Education, Experience & Skills

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalent Diploma (GED) is required.
  • College degree of higher preferred

Qualification’s

  • 2+ years of sales experience
  • Experience in the fire protection industry a plus
  • The ability to travel up to two weeks per month
  • A people person who can naturally get customers passionately onboard with a product or idea
  • Creative with a never-ending stream of ideas and improvements for products and customer experiences
  • Process and metric oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Good public speaker
